At our facility the freight does not have to sit on a trailer waiting for a dock. Cross-dock it, consolidate it, store it for a few weeks, then put it back on a truck.

Container or intermodal freight moved into domestic trailers for the final run, including devanning by hand.
Short-term storage
Racked or floor-stacked pallets held for days or weeks, with a count you can ask for at any time.

Several small shipments combined into one full truckload so you pay truckload rates instead of LTL.
